Custom Rules: Overview

1Blocker is a highly customizable app that enables its users to create tailored browsing experiences. One of the most powerful ways to upgrade your browsing is by using the Custom Rules category to create your own filters.

There are several types of custom rules available in 1Blocker.

For instance, you can fully or partially allow websites, block links, and cookies, hide visual elements, and even combine different types of rules into separate rulesets.

Inside the Custom Rules section, you will find the following filters:

Also, some features, e.g., Allow List, Hide Elements, and Make HTTPS, are available as quick actions right from the 1Blocker Safari extension icon both on iOS and macOS.

How to create a custom rule?

On iOS:

  1. Open 1Blocker app.

  2. Go to Custom Rules.

  3. Choose a category by tapping it (make sure it is enabled!).

  4. While inside a particular category, tap the (...) menu button in the upper-right corner and choose New Rule.

  5. Follow the hints given in each field and fill in all necessary parameters.

  6. Tap Save.

On macOS:

  1. Open 1Blocker app.

  2. Go to Custom Rules.

  3. Choose a category by tapping it (make sure it is enabled!).

  4. While inside a particular category, tap the (...) menu button at the top and choose New Rule.

  5. Follow the hints given in each field and fill in all necessary parameters.

  6. Tap Save.

How to delete a custom rule?

On iOS:

  1. Launch 1Blocker.

  2. Go to Custom Rules.

  3. Locate the rule you want to remove.

  4. Touch and hold that rule, then press Edit.

  5. Tap the Delete button at the bottom, then tap Delete to confirm.

On macOS:

  1. Launch 1Blocker.

  2. Go to Custom Rules.

  3. Locate the rule you want to remove.

  4. Right-click that rule and press Edit.

  5. Tap the Delete button at the bottom, then tap Delete to confirm.
