Creating Advanced Filters
Updated over 2 weeks ago

One of the most handy tools available in 1Blocker is the possibility of creating your own small filter lists, combining custom rules of different types in a single group. For instance, you can have a rule that hides elements on a site and another one that blocks trackers on that site in a single filter.

You can build and modify such groups in the “Advanced” section, located right below custom categories in the Custom Rules menu.

To create a new group, tap the + button on the right-hand side.

This feature might be helpful if you want to combine and manage several rules that have something in common. For example, if they are all applied to the same website or serve the same purpose. Additionally, certain fields allow users to specify filters in a more precise way.

Currently, the following types of actions are available:

  • Block URL - provides regular expression support, adjustable URL parameters, and resource type options, such as styles, scripts, images, etc.

  • Hide Element - adds a more flexible way of fine-tuning the domains a rule will be applied to.

  • Block Cookies - offers extended domain settings.

In addition, we’d like to share a few examples of custom groups with you to showcase the power of advanced customization. Each of them serves a specific purpose: saves bandwidth, blocks access to time-consuming websites, or lets you block entire types of content.

We have attached them to this article so that you can easily import them to 1Blocker. These are 1Blocker-compatible files you can download and import on any device with our app installed.

The corresponding files are attached at the bottom of the article.
