One of the handy features 1Blocker Scripts provides is the possibility to redirect AMP in Safari on mobile devices.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is an approach to building and storing websites that was introduced by Google several years ago. Any website owner can create an AMP version of their site. Without going into too much detail, such web pages are hosted by Google and tend to load faster than regular sites.
Such projects maintained by Google have always been a big privacy concern. Also, one of the main problems is that the end-user has no option to skip redirects to AMP-based pages while using Google's search engine.
Gladly, 1Blocker Scripts can make Safari load regular web pages instead of AMP by default. At the same time, the content-blocking rules applied by 1Blocker remove lots of unwanted visual elements and trackers, making regular pages load faster, which enables us to keep the right balance between privacy and the loading speed.
How to enable AMP redirects:
Since AMP-based sites are only served on mobile devices, this feature is available on the iOS version of 1Blocker.
Ensure 1Blocker Scripts is enabled and configured on your device: 1Blocker Scripts.
Launch 1Blocker.
Go to Block Annoyances.
Scroll down to Redirect AMP and activate its switch.
It's worth mentioning that 1Blocker Scripts can be managed from the iOS Settings, and it must be enabled on all websites in iOS Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions for this functionality to work properly.
