Working with custom rules
Updated over 2 years ago

1Blocker is a highly customizable content blocker, providing the possibility to create powerful custom rules. With 1Blocker, you can fully or partially allow websites, block sites, cookies, or hide visual elements, and even create custom groups of rules.

Custom rules are divided into several categories, such as:

They can all be found in the 1Blocker app > Safari > Custom.

Also, the most popular features, e.g., Allow Site, Hide Element, and Make HTTPS are available as quick actions right in the 1Blocker Safari extension both on iOS and macOS devices.

How to create a custom rule?

On iOS:

  1. Open 1Blocker app;

  2. Go to Safari > Custom;

  3. Choose a category by tapping it (make sure it is enabled!);

  4. While inside a particular category, tap the arrow in the upper-right corner and choose "New Rule";

  5. Follow the hints given in each field and fill in all necessary parameters;

  6. Tap "Save".

On macOS:

  1. Open 1Blocker app;

  2. Go to Custom;

  3. Choose a category by tapping it (make sure it is enabled!);

  4. Press the "New Rule" button in the lower-right corner;

  5. Follow the hints given in each field and fill in all necessary parameters;

  6. Tap "Save".

How to delete a custom rule?

To remove a custom rule from a Mac, you need to launch 1Blocker and go to Custom, then double-click the rule you want to remove, press the "Edit" button and use the bin icon.

On iOS, launch 1Blocker, then swipe left the rule and choose Delete. Alternatively, you can delete multiple rules by selecting them from the "Select" menu in the upper-right corner of a custom category and tapping the bin icon.

Also, we've prepared detailed articles about each category available in our app. We encourage you to learn more about them in this section of our Help Center and make sure that you are getting the most out of 1Blocker.
