How to enable in-app blocking
Updated over a week ago

The in-app blocking filter provides system-wide protection against trackers via a local VPN profile. It blocks tracking-related requests the apps make in real-time.

Since the system needs user approval to create a new VPN profile, 1Blocker will ask for your permission to install its local profile in the Settings > VPN section of the iOS.

In-app blocking is currently available only in the iOS version of 1Blocker.

Here's how to install it:

  1. Launch 1Blocker.

  2. Go to Block Trackers.

  3. Scroll down to Block In-App Trackers and activate it.

  4. Once the pop-up asking to install configuration appears, tap Install Configuration.

  5. Press Allow and follow further instructions.

Once the profile is installed, you can find it in iOS Settings > VPN > In-App Blocking.

1Blocker provides a handy switch that lets you manage the in-app tracking filter right from the app. You can use it to activate, deactivate, or pause the filter for five or 30 minutes.

When it is enabled, the toggle will be highlighted in blue:

Since the data is routed only locally, no information about your activity leaves your device.
